I'd like to introduce you to talented maker Elizabeth Ellsworth and her beautiful small shop Tali & Co on Etsy. Elizabeth was inspired by her sweet daughter Taliah to start creating clothing for little ones: "I could picture the clothes I wanted her to wear but I couldn't find them so I made them. I love being able to pick the fabric, length, and style so I get exactly what I want instead of settling for something else."
Two of Elizabeth's personal shop favorites are the linen Josie Pinafore and the linen Adeline Dress, thoughtfully designed to be 'go to' wardrobe items for your little one that you'll reach for again and again. "My favorite fabric is linen. I love the feel of it and how it drapes and flows. It's so timeless and easy to style. One of the main things I look at when choosing colors, fabrics and styles is how versatile they are. I ask myself how hard will it be to find something to go with it? Can it be dressy? Can it be casual? Will it be easy to mix and match to change the look of the outfit?"
I have so much admiration for creative and hard working small shop owners, as Elizabeth explains. "It's hard at times to balance work and being a mom. Being a mom and wife always come first for me because I wouldn't be doing this without them. But I'm striving to be a great business owner because I want to be a brand that people can depend on for great quality clothing and amazing customer service."
Tali & Co also has some lovely options for the little guys, these Oliver Suspender Pants (above left) are made from a handsome leathered linen, featuring cuffed pant legs and crisscross straps that button in the front for that perfect timeless look.
Elizabeth loves being part of the supportive small shop community: "I love small shop and mom-made things. I like knowing that when I buy from them I'm helping them put food on their table. So I opened my own shop to help support my family and also give me a little extra to buy from other small shops. My favourite things about running my shop are being able to provide better things for my daughter and the sweet comments from my customers."
